Provider expressed stress regarding trying to talk to her mother about her being born when her mother was 16. Providers mother got very upset and accused her of being like her estranged father, who she has a very bad relationship with. This trigger a mood/emotional issue for the provider, thinking about her friend, while 19, impregnating his son’s mother when she was 16. Consultation, provided the correct age of sexual consent in Washington, (to address her concerns about legality) and, we practiced communication skill “loving confrontation”, on how to talk to him about this. |
